Welcome to the magical world of cake smash photography!

If you are looking for a unique way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday, a cake smash photoshoot is perfect for you. A birthday cake smash captures the joy and excitement – and mess – of your baby’s first birthday celebratioin!

This fun session is an oppurtunity for your baby to get messy and have some fun whilst I capture all these precious moments on camera.

Whether they’re shy or outgoing, messy or neat, every baby has their own unique personality that I’ll capture. These photos will showcase your baby’s individuality and make for some truly special memories.

I am committed to creating a fun and unforgettable experience for both you and your little one, so you can cherish these memories for years to come.

So what ACTUALLY happens at a birthday cake smash photoshoot?!

At a cake smash session, your baby is the star of the show! Before you arrive, I will have already set up the backdrop in the colour scheme of your choosing.

We start the session with some simple portraits whilst your baby becomes at ease with their new environment.

Then, we bring out the cake! This next part is dependent on your baby. They are free to interact with the cake however they want. They may dive right in at the start or they may take a while to explore it. They may need a little encouragement from you to get stuck in.

During the session, I encourage parents to interact with their baby and join in on the fun. This creates a relaxed and comfortable environment for your baby, which helps to bring out their natural personalities and create some truly special memories.

After the cake has been well and truly smashed, it’s clean up time!

I bring out my special baby sized bathtub and fill it with warm water and bubbles. This serves two purposes – it cleans baby up and they aboslutely love a good splash!

This 3-in-1 session is sure to be great fun and provide you lots of memories to treasure forever.

Birthday Cake Smash Photoshoots Pricing

A £50 deposit is taken at the time of booking to secure your photoshoot which is deducted from your chosen package. Additional prints and products are available to purchase if required.

There is no need to choose a package yet. Approximately 2 weeks after your session, I will schedule an online viewing and ordering appointment. Here you will have the opportunity to view your gallery and decide on which packages and products suit you best.

What age is best for a cake smash photoshoot?

Cake smash photoshoots are typically done when babies are around 11-13 months old, as they are usually able to sit up independently and interact with the cake.

How messy will it be?

Messy! I recommend wearing something you don’t mind getting sticky fingers on. Don’t worry though, I will take care of the clean up afterwards.

Do I need to bring the cake for the photoshoot?

Yes. Due to the rising instances of allergies, you will need to provide your own cake for the photoshoot. I can help you with recommendations for bakers and cake design for this.

How long will the photoshoot take?

A newborn photoshoot is entirely baby led and as such, can take 3-4 hours. This allows time for lots of cuddle breaks, nappy changes and feeding time. We will go at your baby’s pace and I will never rush them into a pose. I take a calm, slow approach. You are welcome to bring something to do – a book to read, a tablet to watch Netflix or even catch up on a bit of sleep!

What should my baby wear for the photoshoot?

We recommend simple and comfortable clothing, or you can choose a special outfit to match the theme.

What if my baby doest like the cake?

Believe it or not, not all babies will be interested in the cake, and that’s okay! We will work with your baby’s cues and capture the best moments possible.

How many images will I get?

I aim to provide a full gallery containing 20-25 carefully selected images for you to choose from. You are then able to choose how many images you wish to purchase – I have packages containing, 5, 10, or all the images included. The final decision on how many images you keep it up to you.

When will my images be ready?

I aim to have your images ready for viewing around 14 days after your session. After your viewing, please allow a further 14 days for your order to arrive and be ready for collection.

Can I purchase additional products?

In addition to our packages, you can also purchase additional prints and wall art. If you are interested in these we can discuss this at your viewing appointment.
